door decor

My friends Jenny and Becky have been crafting and painting up a storm this past month so I decided that I needed to do a little bit myself. I like to put a wreath on my door and have one for every month or season of the year except for summer. I have been blog stalking quite a bit lately and love the "before and after" format. The above is obviously the before picture.

Wreath from the dollar store, fabric quarters from Joanne's and a little white spray paint. Heat up the glue gun and I am ready to create.

Love the results and though the picture doesn't show it, my door is blue and the wreath looks great on it. Hooray!

The taste of summer

Ok...I thought that I would be mostly posting about my first graders fro the next few weeks but this weekend I ate something that made me think about nothing but summer..... caprese salad. Yummy. I also got to share it with my Mom which made it even better. Bring on summer....

14 days

I kinda have a feeling that most of my posts for the next few weeks may be about my students. I am getting ready to end the school year and am kinda sad about ending this year. It has not been my easiest year but it has been filled with some great memories and fantastic, inquisitive children. I decided to do a "countdown to summer" chart in my classroom. I know that I said that I wouldn't but there is a great amount of excitement about the end of the year festivities. Today when I ripped off the 15 to reveal the 14, many children cheered and did a little "happy dance". I noticed that one of my girls was not cheering and dancing. She was looking a little sad. When I asked her what was wrong, she said, "Mrs. Faas, I think that I just want to savor the last 14 days of school." that's right......savor.

Me too Emily. Me too.
